Teisipäeval, 16. septembril kl 17 avatakse Kadrioru Galeriis (Vesivärava 50, Tallinn) näitus “Natuur: 10 kunstnikku Londonist“ (kuraatorid: Harry Pye, August Künnapu).

“Natuur“ annab lühiülevaate, mis praegu Londoni kunstimaastikul toimub. Näitusel osalevad kunstnikud on varem osalenud või kureerinud näitusi Saatchi Galeriis, Tate Britainis, Tate Modernis, Kuninglikus Akadeemias jm Londonis.

Väljapaneku korraldamine Kadrioru galeriis on ülivajalik, kuna Eestis ei ole midagi sellist tehtud aastakümneid. Viimati toimus Briti maalikunsti ja skulptuuri ülevaatenäitus „Tailsliding“ (kuraator Stephen Hepworth, korraldaja Briti Nõukogu) aastal 2002 Rotermanni Soolalaos. Natuur aitab tugevdada Eesti ja Briti kunstnike, kuraatorite jt kultuuritöötajate kontakte ja elavdada meie kultuurielu.

Näitusel Natuur osalevaid suurlinna kunstnikke (Harry Adams, Huddie Hamper, Edie Flowers, Raksha Patel, Harry Pye, Suzanne Spiro, Corin Johnson, Gordon Beswick, Cedar Lewisohn ja Georgia Hayes) ühendab teatav loodusihalus, siirus, kõrgendatud ilumeel, kujundlik ja romantiline maailmataju, peen Briti huumorimeel ning suures osas figuratiivsus. Kunstnike stiil on erinev, siit leiame nii realistliku maalikunsti esindajaid, naiivsema käekirjaga autoreid kui ekspressioniste.

* Kolmapäeval, 17. septembril kl 17 toimub tuur kunstnikega, kes osalevad näitusel. Kohal on Harry Pye, Georgia Hayes, Corin Johnson, Raksha Patel, Gordon Beswick, Suzanne Spiro jt. Koos vaatame üle 38 uuemat Briti looduslähedast kunstiteost Kadrioru galerii neljal korrusel.

“Nature: 10 Artists from London” (curators: Harry Pye, August Künnapu) opens at the Kadrioru Gallery on Tuesday, 16 September at 5 p.m.

​

The exhibition offers a snapshot of the current art scene in London. Participating artists have previously taken part or curated exhibitions at Saatchi Gallery, Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Royal Academy of Arts in London etc.

The whole undertaking is really necessary as nothing similar has happened in Estonia for decades. The last overview display of British painting and sculpture “Tailsliding” (curator Stephen Hepworth, organised by the British Council) took place in 2002 at Rotermanni Salt Storage. “Nature” helps to strengthen contacts between British and Estonian artists, curators and other art-involved people and enliven our cultural life.

The participating artists from the big city (Harry Adams, Huddie Hamper, Edie Flowers, Raksha Patel, Harry Pye, Suzanne Spiro, Corin Johnson, Gordon Beswick, Cedar Lewisohn and Georgia Hayes) are united by certain yearning for nature, sincerity, heightened sense of beauty, metaphorical and romantic perception of the world, refined English sense of humour and largely the imagery. Their style differs, the artists include representatives of realist painting, those with more naïve style as well as expressionists.

* At the opening, DJ Rhythm Doctor plays the most delicious British music on vinyl, from the 1950s until today.

* A tour with the participating artists Harry Pye, Georgia Hayes, Corin Johnson, Raksha Patel, Gordon Beswick, Suzanne Spiro and others is organised on Wednesday, 17 September at 5 p.m. We explore 38 British close-to-nature works of art on four floors of the gallery.
